The Bag Tags Story
Bag Tags, Inc. began in 1997 with a simple yet impactful idea. Tom and Diane Doyle, parents of seven active children involved in various sports, discovered the world of competitive swimming. As their children became more engaged in the sport, Tom took an active role by joining the local swim club’s Board of Directors. In an effort to help young swimmers track their progress, he collaborated with the Head Swim Coach to create handmade tags displaying time standards. These tags, attached to swim bags with zip ties, quickly gained popularity—and just like that, Bag Tags, Inc. was born.
Recognizing the potential of their idea, Tom and Diane reached out to the coaches of 2,500 swim clubs under the authority of USA Swimming, providing samples of their innovative tags. With a well-structured business plan and a licensing agreement with USA Swimming for the time standards tags, their small family endeavor transformed into a thriving business.
What started as a tool to help young swimmers set and achieve goals soon expanded beyond swimming. Bag Tags, Inc. revolutionized event security by introducing standardized credentials for pool deck access at local, state, and regional swimming championships. This natural evolution led to the company servicing thousands of clients annually across a wide range of industries. While they remain proud partners of USA Swimming, Bag Tags, Inc. has also forged strong relationships with organizations such as the NFHS, USA Water Polo, USA Baseball, and USA Field Hockey.
