History

The Bag Tags Story

The company started back in 1997, when Tom and Diane Doyle’s family of 7 “active” kids, who were involved in various sports and activities, discovered swimming. After getting on the local swim club’s Board of Directors, Tom volunteered to help the Head Swim Coach create tags that would display the time standards goals for the competitive swimmers. These hand made tags could be attached to the kids swim bags with zip-ties and the idea of “Bag Tags, Inc.” was afloat.

The idea grew when Tom and Diane reached out to the coaches of 2,500 swim clubs, under the authority of USA Swimming, with samples of their tags. A business plan was put together, complete with a licensing agreement with USA Swimming for the time standards tags and the journey began.

Over time, the size and design of the tags evolved and was refined, with input from the entire family. The product was embraced and purchased by swim coaches and swim clubs across North America, with the support of USA Swimming. It wasn’t a tidal wave, but it was enough to keep nurturing the idea of delivering a high-quality, practical product for amateur athletic events. Eventually, the time standards tags evolved into a wider offering of event credentials, luggage tags and custom lanyards.

25 years later, the Doyle family still owns and operates Bag Tags, Inc., along with a wonderful staff of highly talented and dedicated employees. We are in the event communication business, and it is our passion to get your message across, while enhancing any event with our products. We ensure that everything we produce whether it’s a luggage tag, an event credential or a customized lanyard, tells your story the way you want it told in a secure, distinct and memorable way.
